Vintage Our Lady ter Ruste Virgin Mary Madonna infant Jesus Plaster Statuette This is the legend of Our Lady ter Ruste , Adriaan de Cassina, Lord of Deerlijk was in distress because of the disease of his young son and prayed to the Virgin Mary, he promised Her that if his son would be healed he would build a chapel in Her honour of the largest tree in his woods. His prayer was answered but he forgot about the promise. Years later the tree was being cut down for another purpose but they could not move the tree. So they sew the tree in half and discovered a statuette of the Virgin Mary. De Cassina remembered his promise and built a chapel for Our Lady ter Ruste.
