Belgian Antique Plaster Statuette Pieta A. De Beule Chalkware OLV Van Lede Alois De Beule was born in Belgium in Zele in 1861. From the age of ten Aloïs worked in the cobbler workshop of his father. He studied in Gent at the academy where he won his first big price for schulpting. In the same period he worked as a student for Matthias Zens and Petrus Pauwels D'hondt. IN 1889 he started his own workshop together with his brother Emile. He made the famous statue of Het Ros beiaard for the world exposition of 1913. His work is shown all over the world e.a. in Liverpool. He died in 1935 in Gent. This statuette is 13.39 inch (34 cm) high and 7.48" (19 cm) wide and 5.51"(14 cm) deep Statuette in overall antique condition, a lot of paint has come off the plaster (for details please see pictures)” ask any question if needed also about combined shipping prices.
