He was first active as sculptor and draughtsman. He made his first ceramic piece in 1896. He was awarded the ‘Grand Prix’ at the International Exhibition in Milan in 1906. He combines his talents as a sculptor and ceramist in a brilliant way and produces everyday pieces as well as works carved from stoneware and terracotta.
